Ouch. Had no idea.
When we changed health coverage laws here years back I was paying 1/3rd of what I pay now for top tier health insurance, after the laws changed suddenly it was tripled. Had to bite my tongue at dinner parties where someone would always pipe up about how they were so happy to get their new subsided health care. Wanted to slide the bill over to them at the end of the meal. (not so much against it if it benefits all, but I’ve yet to see what I get return?)

We're in a complicated situation here as the ski industry is closed - so no income for lots of people who work just the 5 month season. It's already annoying that they think to work for 5 months entitles them to claim state aid for the rest of the year... now with the aid the government is throwing left right and centre, they are getting paid 80% salary to do nothing, so lots of them will end up doing a couple of years with no work. So of course, I have no problem with 'society' and helping people out when they need it, but... I'm finishing off my house in ski station, so in between times renting a flat near to my workshop... and we've got lots of snow this year... so all these people I'm helping out by paying my taxes - can they be bothered to get rid of the snow in the parking lot?.. you know to help others out?.. and get free exercise?.. of course not, I have to do that too!

Lol.
There’s a couple of guys who sort through our waste bins when they’re on the street for pick up. To me they are working a job because they are seeing that scrap metals actually get to the recycler instead of the landfill. So I started saving my metal scrap for them and placing it on top of the bins. But every time, the next day, because I guess they thought there was more scrap in the bins, I would come out to find all the trash out of the containers laying in the street. And guess who has to pick it all up. You provide an incentive, but because humans are involved, you never get the intended result. I’m always trying to unpack the concept of “..no good deed goes unpunished”.
