The one thing that constantly drives me crazy about using the dust extractors with my tools is the hose. It always snags on what you are cutting, gets in the way and or can pull your saw out of alignment.
What are people using for any type of boom hose arm or other ideas to help with getting the hose out of the way?

If your setup is stationary... I use a lag eye attached to the ceiling and a bungee with carabiner ends. The bungee gives some stretch so you have better range and the carabiner keeps the bungee from undoing itself at the wrong moment. Here's a link to the bungee I used. The length of course would be dependent on your ceiling height. www.amazon.com/Highland-9417500-Carabiner-Bungee-Cord/dp/B001IGGLGC

I perform 90%+ of my work on-site, which generally precludes me from using anything very fancy. With some practice, I have become very adept at wrapping the cord and hose around my forearm, to the point where it has become second nature, and generally prevents the hose from catching the edge of a work piece. If you do a lot of shop work, and own a Festool dust extractor, they make what looks like a nice boom arm: www.festoolusa.com/power-tool-accessories/hepa-dust-extractors/organization-storage/ct-boom-arm-bundle-set-m0114I haven't tried it, but it may be possible to adapt this for other brands of vacs. I've seen a lot of homemade rigs made out of PVC pipe, etc….. I guess if I were working in a shop I'd prefer to buy something ready-made that I won't need to muck around with. I love inventing jigs and fixtures as much as the next guy, the problem is sometimes I spend more time building jigs that I could be spending generating revenues.

My problem with festools boom arm is that it's expensive for what's really just a piece of pipe.

I agree with ghost fist, the festool bookmark is expensive. Plus I have an older fein vacuum.
Tong, I usually try to throw the hose over my shoulder, but that doesn't always work.
Any other boom type Rms out there besides the festool.

Festool makes what they call there "Hose Holder." Really Simple but Maybe a larger home made version would work. Hose Holder
