Just noticed that there's new 2 x 18V Cordless Vacs coming from Starmix (possibly also going to marketed by Metabo as well) in both L & M rated versions.
Models are ISC L 36-18V & ISC M 36-18V Safe
Availability is stated as "coming soon".
Quoted from Cordless Alliance Brochure.
At 36V it's gotta be twice the vac as the rather disappointing 18V Starmix/Metabo Quadrix L 18V Top/AS 18 L PC.

Meh... There are many tools, that cordless hardly making sense, "hoovers" (dust extractors) or "shop-vacs" is one of the worse examples of IMHO... It's like charging a battery for an hour and a half, discharging in , (let's say) and hour, changing batteries again or going for double (actually 4 needed) to make almost practical tool. Price-ways 4 batteries, even 2, just doesn't make no sense, then theres issue of the added weight. Meh

Depends what you do as work and where you do it. If you need to sometimes work out of the van in an underground car park (yes I do sometimes!), with no access to power, cordless flood lights (thanks Metabo), cordless saws (thanks Mafell) and cordless vacs (Makita for now!) are the name of the game.
For info, I have never used my cordless vac next to a power point, with the charger plugged in trying to keep up. There is a place in the arsenal of lots of tradesmen for these tools.

More and more adding to the CAS - it makes it an easier choice to go for a tools if you're already stocked up on batts... only got 3 manufacturers from the list... so far!

CAS: 168 tools & counting. Not bad, not bad at all.
Whilst some individual tools, unfortunately, are utter rubbish, others are at the absolute top of their game. This system in now seriously rivalling the "big boys" like Makita & Milwaukee in diversity & innovation.
Wouldn't mind seeing some others, however:
Cordless Jiggy & Duo Doweller from Mafell
Cordless Biscuiters from Lamello
2 x 18V SDS Max drill & Hex Breaker/s from Metabo - the latter is I suspect probably too much to ask from a mere 36V!
2 x 18V either 254 or 305mm SCMS with "proper" double-bevel, 60 degree miter & 300+ mm x-cut capacities from Metabo.
Maybe a big mains rechargeable 240V battery charge station & AC power supply in a wheeled trolley format with 120 AH storage capacity for dedicated mains tools & recharging.
Some of this "wish list" may be a bit of a pipe dream. Milwaukee has needed to introduce yet another battery format - 72 volts - for their biggest construction tools. Metabo & the others could theoretically produce "4 x 18v" tools, but they'll be ridiculously heavy & unwieldy, just as the Milwaukee ones are, whilst still having limited charge-life.
Realistically, some high-powered "cordless" construction & demolition tools are probably better served using petrol as the power source.

I found the multiple shadows from the LEDs a bit disconcerting so made up a lens cover from plexiglass, fine sanded each side to satin, smooths out the light - then found out Metabo actually sell this as an accessory!

Recently got the hilti equivalent due to the ridiculous demands of health and safety on current site. It’s brilliant and has a 240v lead so can be run corded or cordless and also recharges the batteries.

I realise it may not be possible in all circumstances, but I would like to see this approach implemented in the way many high-current cordless tools are engineered. Oh, for a corded/cordless combo tracksaw, for example!
