Hi all, my Erika 70 has arrived today and wow it is heavy duty. Those knobs from tightening the fence are a bit of a joke! Anyway, I was considering getting the 1m fence extension for the table, and wondered rather than attaching it to the fence, can I just run in independently on the table with two clamping points? That way I have a ripping fence and can keep the other fence for cross cutting etc. Many thanks.

Congratulations on your new saw. Yes, it would be possible to do what you ask. The problem is you would have to manually square the fence to the blade every time you moved the extension. That would make me crazy, YMMV.
Consider getting a MFA fence for crosscutting and using the universe fence for ripping.

Thanks you, yes that is an option I'm considering, just slightly more expensive haha. So far I'm find the fence rather odd to square up as it is. Until you really tighten the knob, there is so much play left to right it's hard to believe that it's going to square up at all. Quite unnerving! Bug plusses so far, waaay quieter than the DeWalt saw. I actually had to check the wood was being cut. The leg levelling is fantastic. It all feels very heavy duty and good quality. The fence is easy to attach. The knobs, as a few people have mentioned require far too much tension. A locking lever would be much better. Also the fence does have some defection in it when pushed. I know this is why most people when the extension and the clamp but I don't really consider that acceptable out of the box.
all: Thanks to all for supporting me. I want to learn or know. That's why I have come in here.

bengt: Oh please the ks60 is better in every way. 60 degree miter in both directions. Bevels past 45(essential in a saw that must cut on the flat) Bigger blade more capacity. The Metabo hpt has 57 degree miter max and 45 bevel max.
