Congratulations on your new saw. Yes, it would be possible to do what you ask. The problem is you would have to manually square the fence to the blade every time you moved the extension. That would make me crazy, YMMV.
Consider getting a MFA fence for crosscutting and using the universe fence for ripping.

Adding an extrusion and a clamp to the universal fence stiffs it up nicely.

Hi all, been running with my 85 for slightly over a month now. I do mostly hobby kayak and airplanes, I’m moving between xcuts and ripping quite a bit, so I’m running into the same issues. How does the universal fence compare to the MFA? I was considering another MFA to attach the extended Fence as it has a real solid hold on the extended fence even before adding extrusion end clamp.

I was considering a second MFA, because the extended fence and extension end clamp is a pain to set up... I ended up getting an Incra for ripping, there's a post on here somewhere showing the setup. If you don't have the extension table for the Erika, a 2nd MFA would work. I use my MFA on the sliding table.
I have the same problem with my Festool CS50 Precisio; rip to the right of the blade, crosscut to the left - so switching between them is time consuming. It's a shame I can't put the MFA on the Festool!
I don't have the universal fence, it looks cheap; I got the Mafell rip fence which is not very good; it has since been discontinued. If your sticking with Mafell accessories, get another MFA - then let us know how you get on using two!

The fence extension works with both the Universal guide fence and the MFA. (As well as the now discontinued rip fence) 038392 is just the extension. 203396 is the extension and a drop stop. If you regularly cut material over a meter in length the Telescopic rod is worthwhile.
The fact that extension provided with the fences doesn’t accept the drop stop is ridiculous. For what the fences cost Mafell should be ashamed.

No. The drop stop works with the fence guide extension only.
The telescopic rod fits into the fence guide extension, not the fence.
Yes, the drop stop works with the telescopic rod. The telescopic rod is part no. 038309. this includes the rod, a drop stop and what Mafell calls a "sheet metal support" which supports the work piece.

Ok thankyou. Considering how excellent the saw is, the accessories seen really quite badly thought out. If it was a more common saw I'm sure there would be third party companies making far better accessories for far less money. 100% Agree! The accessories for this machine and price point are very underwhelming. If I had my time again. I'd buy base model and set it up with Incra accessories. Would be better and end up cheaper if anything. Though would require some modding.
