Hi
I am considering an erika 85 rather than a tradition table saw with induction motor.
Could anyone give me an idea of how loud the motor is ?
Thanks Alan

My last table saw had an induction motor - really notice the difference when not cutting - but to be fair, when I'm not cutting, it's usually off!.. the second you start cutting, you can't hear the motor.

Thanks for the reply aas.
Doing some research it appears rip fence is no longer available. So for doing rip cuts does the MFA fence always clamp on the right hand edge ? or can it be mounted to the front rail.
Cheers Al H

The dovetail goes right around the saw table so the MFA can be fixed anywhere; I prefer to rip to the left, the MFA can be used left, right or on the front rail.
Have a look through threads here for more useful info on the saw and extras. The rip fence is not available but is not very good in any case, you are not missing much.
The Incra LS positioner and fence is a good option, I did a quick write up on how to fit one to the Erika.
Otherwise, just use the MFA, get the 1000mm MFA extension if you need a longer fence, plus a dovetail clamp for holding down the far end for cuts that might cause deflection.

Off topic, but I noticed that the new festool saw has two locking levers on the rip fence, to lock down each end. Both levers are at the front end, so no walking around the saw to lock off the far end of the fence.

The Erika is not that loud in my opinion when idling. Cutting is the same sound as an induction saw. The blade and cutting wood is where most of the sound comes from.
It is the smoothest table saw I have every used - no belt = less vibration. I took video of my steel rule on edge staying put while I power the saw on and off and it did not fall over - amazing. Once I switch over to my new computer and download new editing software I will post the video.
