Anyone got feedback on Fein cordless tools?
I've just picked up a new Fein Supercut in 18v - very nice tool, replaces the Metabo MT18LTX which I have managed to sell on.
Would appreciate views on the 18v 125mm angle grinder. I currently have the Metabo WPB 125 BL Quick, but it has to go. I like the look of the Bosch cordless X-lock, but I'm not a fan of walled gardens!.. and I don't have any Bosch 18v batteries ( for now ! )... so trying to keep battery platforms to a minimum, I thought the Fein could be of interest.
Not a brand I've ever seen in the wild, apart from corded multi-tools!

Not believer in certain (most) tools to be cordless as really professional solution... "DIY solution to industrial issue" "batteried Vs Corded versions" is my MOTTO Have Bosch Corded Starlock (will post the model number if must tomorrow) and am,ever so pleased with it, having had been working on opposite sides of an project "Opera House in the woods", when carpenter from the other side looked at the speed and quality of my cutting ended saying that mine was better performing one (green Oak, speed 2 (of 6)) Vs Fein , he also had an screwdriver, that form factor and quality HAD impressed me alot.
Sorry, but apart from sidelining comment of the different tools in question, I haven't tested or even seen anyone with Fein grinder, hence can not offer no further opinion on the matter yet

Popped into a hardware store today, didn't even know they sell Fein, got my hands on a 18v 125mm grinder - very nice quality feel in the hands... I'll be looking at the Bosch next week too.

bot a Fein, but TBH as for the type of a tool, any mainstream are OK...

Not convinced any mainstream are OK. Sold the Makita BL, the Metabo could be OK, but in usual Metabo style it has too many faults. The Makita was arguably better than the Metabo... I'm looking for better than the Metabo. I have Hitachi 18v batteries, but it's the multivolt grinder that is interesting - so another battery platform. If it's to add another platform to my collection of chargers!.. then there is the new Makita XGT coming, or the Bosch 18v. A lot of them in the video you linked I wouldn't even think about...

Perhaps it is just me, but angle grinder to me is just a tool for the odd rough jobs, where very few criteria matter as power, weight and longevity, unlike woodworking tools. and yes, it is annoying issue of brands continuing battery compatibility war, hence personally use one of few batteries brands and sticking to it, where angle grinder trademark or brand barely matters to me

Sometimes I have to do some fairly precise cutting with a cordless grinder, surprising how a bit of slop, vibration or poor balance can through off the concentration. I've currently got 5 grinders : a couple of old 'Made in Japan' Makitas in 125 and 230mm, they just will not die, very impressive!; Festool 125mm for running on the track (plus all the accessories); Metabo 125mm setup as a floor grinder, very powerful; and an 18v Metabo 125mm quick (all the others are 230v) - they all have their place, but there is nothing balanced and precise in that list.
As far as battery platforms go - there is no one single platform that does everything - I tried my best with Mafell and Metabo, but the Metabo just isn't up to precise professional work. So second line of thought is get the best tool for the job, and that's led me to 7 or 8 battery platforms, exactly what I didn't want - but I've got some nice tools!

Pretty sure the new Festool 18v grinders are made by / under license from Fein, or at least sharing parts.

Ordered a Fein cordless grinder for a steal of a price... Had a look at a few tools up at the trade show here this week - including the Bosch X-Lock, not hugely impressed. (I'll put the Mafell stuff in another thread!)

Upgraded to a 18v cordless multi tool a couple of weeks ago and decided to get the grinder as well. Fein had a 'buy a bare tool, get a free 5ah battery' promotion. So I bought the multitool kit, with charger and x2 5ah batteries, and the 125mm grinder with x1 5ah battery. Absolutely fantastic tools. Seriously considering moving my drills/impact driver over to Fein as well.

The great quality over the years of Fein's multitools has always had me wondering about the rest of their lineup. And you hear nothing but raves for the latest cordless.
Not sure if it's been discussed elsewhere but I was wondering, other than run time, if there is any noticeable performance difference between the 2.5 v 5 Ah when using SuperCut ? How about balance preference?

The quailty of the Fein tools is unbelievable - it really feels a cut above the rest. I would like to get a drill and SDS to add to the multitool and grinder, it will have to wait for now.
I got the Festool Vecturo plunge base kit for the Fein multitool, an accessory worth having.
I also picked up a couple of the 12v batteries. Most of the Fein cordless 18v can run on 12v too - for precise work where power is not needed, the 12v is perfect and much lighter than the 3ah 18v batts. I have 18v 6ah as the main batts.

I have the blue and green version of your Supercut (soooooo good) and plan to purchase the blue and green version of the Fein angle grinder very soon. Coincidentally my own cordless Metabo grinder bit the bullet quite quickly, but I have a cordless Makita (thank the heavens) with the ever important variable speed. The brushless..ahem..German made..cordless Bosch grinders seem pretty nice, but Walter and Pferd haven’t signed up for this new x-lock (that I know of) development, and limiting yourself to that fitting also limits the possibilities for a cordless grinder, imho. I cut a lot of rebar on a single 5.2ah charge with the Metabo. I’m still cutting a lot of rebar with the Makita (although it’s jerkier and harder to control) at 1000 leas rpm. The Makita is also grinding metal with flap discs, chasing cracks, grinding concrete, cutting bricks, and attacking paint and rust with the steel brush. I expect more of the same, but better with the Fein. Peep it’s enclosed motor. Unlike the Festool version, you can get it with a deadman as an option. I’ll be pulling out the corded 15 amp grinder for some extensive concrete finishing with a dust extractor involved this week but for everything else, I always reach for the cordless. I say pull the trigger and don’t look back. Fein don’t mess around (at least not with the stuff that comes out of their own plant). That enclosed motor tells you they expect you to use their product to the fullest. - Edit: just saw your other posts. If you’re open to mish mashing platforms, give the Dewalt flexivolt grinder a look. The fein is probably built better, but the flexivolt is probably a beast.
