Ok so the other night while browsing through Netflix, I decided to watch "The Last Emperor". Great film! I recall seeing it in the theater when it was released and hadn't seen it since. In short, it's about the last emperor of China, his essential imprisonment in the magnificent Forbidden city in Beijing until his expulsion and demotion to a commoner's status in communist China. Enough of the movie, I wanted to find out more about the history of this incredible palace complex, The Forbidden City, and stumbled across this documentary covering it's history and current restoration process.
Enjoy,

What did you think of the film? "The Laster Emperor" is exactly what the title expresses. Im grateful that the story didn't appear twisted by the director to convey a hidden meaning or strong social issue that paralleled the issues of the time it was made. I didn't end up with a single kernel of truth or life lesson but more a realization of history as it played out. Its a story not a life lesson. Enjoyable and very well done.
