Tom must be doing quiet well. I sometimes think the mf26 would be handy at times like when doing half lap joints for the wall plates the problem is no power on site and I really want to avoid having to hump a generator about. I have kind of looked at the hilti hybrid vac it does on the whole seem a good vac. It comes with a 35mm hose which is a lot more flexible than the mafell. If plugged into the mains it uses 240 so can't plug into the mains on uk sites, yet I could still use it on site with the 36v batteries. I think the guy in the shop said with the 36v 6ah batteries would fill 3 bags on one battery. It can take 2 batteries and recharge them. Sometimes I think a 240 vac would be handy for the likes of the tools at 240. The problem is I feel it's £300 more than I want to pay. It's not the end of the world to switch the vac on. Granted on site I can't use, unless there is power near by. If I was cutting loads of mdf then I would maybe consider.

Tom must be doing quiet well. Lol, well, we're still living in a single bedroom apartment, so we certainly haven't hit the Big Time quite yet. Rather, every time I identify an area of work that could be performed more quickly or with better quality I take note of it, and try to identify a new technique or tool that will produce a better, faster project in the future. My KSS-400 has absolutely been a game changer in that regard.

As long as things are looking up for u then all is good. If a tool or technique can make your life easier go for it. Really glad you're happy with your kss. When I started working back on the sites with no power I really missed the kss until I got the cordless kss.

The sad thing is once you start setting up a shop and do less onsite work Mafell starts to look cheap in comparison to stationary equipment. Hope I can grow my business without ever needing robotic tools like a CNC. Would be like buying a second house.

It's never easy I suppose it boils down to how many orders you have coming in and how many orders you expect to come in. Also what level debt is manageable to the business and how fast you want to grow. Is it just yourself or you have a team of guys working for you

Any tool that makes a job easier and faster is on my radar. I'm always looking for items that offer versatility and speed. Employees rarely meet my criteria so I invest in the equipment which counts as an asset to the company and is always ready to work. My goal is to have a system of tools that allow me to work less but get paid more. I really don't see the value in building a business to work longer and harder. Most guys work 50-60 hour weeks but I try to stay at a standard 40. My goal is to get to 20 but be paid for 40. The best way to accomplish that task is to invest in the right tools and build a strong clientele but time will tell.

My list got a little shorter this week. Picked up a used kapex for a reasonable price. Kapex wasn't really on the list, but the KSS80 was. I guess this purchase took that one off the list. The money I saved will most likely go to the Festool KA-UG miter saw wings and an aluminium cutting blade. I am a bit worried about their stability with the single leg though. Anyone who has them care to share their thoughts?

Got a 60 Gallon Ingersoll-Rand compressor. A Hankinson HIT-20 refrigerant system for the compressor. Lastly a Powermatic PM1800 Bandsaw. All are new and looking forward to getting them setup. Especially the compressor as I use it with a PPS system and HVLP for finishing. Also have further plans for more pneumatic clamping but will be waiting for that investment. The bandsaw is a beast and is designed primarily for re-sawing. A few more checked off but my list seems to be getting bigger not smaller. You'll love the PM1800. I've got two. Be sure and try the LENOX WOODMASTER® CT BAND SAW BLADES. You can resaw down to 1/64" thick and they cut much more effortlessly than all other I've tried. I believe Oliver has a "reasonably" priced feeder also. Thought about using my powermatic PF-41 but the wheels aren't wide enough to apply even pressure against the entire width of the workpiece. Comatic might also have a bandsaw feeder.

Garch- Change of subject here...thanks for the lead on the Bessey LC12 clamps. I ordered two the other day that I am waiting for. I had two jorgensen gear clamps and broke one of them this past week building a set of stairs. I use them a lot and I am looking forward to the LC12s. I hear they are very durable which is exactly what I need plus they are rated at about double the clamping pressure compared to my existing ones.
