I got news today from my Mafell dealer that Mafell has had a problem with the "updated" onboard electronics and need to recall ALL of their recent battery operated saws.
At the moment he could not tell how far back the affected production run stretches but as far as he knew none of the units they had sold were affected according to Mafell who had kept tabs on the units shipped with the new "faulty" electronics.
I am a bit worried since my Mafell MT55 18m bl is only a few months old, will find out tomorrow.
This is just a heads up for anyone interested in buying a Mafell battery saw in the near future - make sure you don't get a factory recall unit that hasn't been fixed!

Let us know if you find out more... I've only got one recent battery saw... still new in its T-max!

Interesting. Maybe that's why my KSS 50 18 M bl died. One day it just simply "didn't work", despite the LEDs lighting: a complete mystery.
Might actually get it working again (at last)! Also have yet another MT55 18 M bl, so far working satisfactorily.

Hey all, just got off the phone with the dealership and it is only the most recent battery operated saws that are affected. They have the letter "B" in the article number. As in version "B" I would guess.
We don't know for sure the reason for the recall of the updated versions.

...dodged a bullet there aas... I have yet to check my unit. I am quite sure it is in "A" too. Still, best to make sure.

I just purchased a kss40 18v. I’ll have to check it on Monday. Thanks.

I think it is the article/order number from Mafell and not the individual serial number on the machine - even though the latter would make more sense. I will check back on Monday for confirmation. If you get any info, do the same.

Hi Just got a MT55 18M bl with Art-Nr-91B402 yesterday and today read of the recall. After a long enough delivery wait from a UK dealer they ship this saw which may be recalled? Any update on this news? This is after having to return a Metabo KS18LTX 57 (with a burnt out motor) which is only for very light work. Padr

I would check with Mafell if your machine is faulty or fixed. You will probably have to go through your dealership and I hope they are up to speed on the issue. If you are lucky you have been shipped an updated/fixed machine. I don't think Mafell would have shipped out a faulty one from their factory if you received just the other day and it was shipped to you.
If it was a tool shipped as "In stock" from a dealership the risk of a faulty machine is very high though!

padr: Thanks Henrun, not sure if my delivery delay was because of another issue or having to get the saw from Mafell. It is running fine though. Got it from FFX
