Hello,
has anyone noticed that the value of festoon resale is going way down. Im trying to sell off several items to make room for mafell (or makita/metabo) and they do not move like they used too....

I'm really not all that surprised. I don't think Fuss-tool's products have been really all that good since the millennium. Their cordless tools in particular are terrible, principally by their continued insistence in using such an antiquated battery platform. Those tools that I've purchased since about 2000 (about 8 assorted saws & sanders) have been rapidly disposed of as being rather unsatisfactory.
Consumers aren't fools. Accepted second-hand pricing will generally be commensurate with a tool's perceived quality & utility. In many ways, Festool's former strengths (sanders & saws) have been all but eclipsed by their obvious competitors.

In my opinion, main reason is festool recon. They have flooded the market. I sold off my ts-55 req, trion 300 , and 1400 sander. Only one that people really went for is the 1400. I sold them all but not for what guys were getting before festool recon started selling daily/weekly.

Festool have some good solid tools in their line-up, and they hold their money better - the TS55 is not great, it's normal that with decent options like the Makita available, it is harder to justify the TS55. At the end of the day, they're just tools, it's normal they lose value.

I feel it is just common sense people are using tools are getting cheaper and better competition is catching up festool line of tools are still quality tools never really got a tool looking for resale value my priority was , does it give me better quality or make my job easier , will at make me more profit some tools made their cost back on the first job they were purchased for my first festool the 65 , the vacuums , the Ro150, the hkc , the tsc , the domino , drrill and drivers with attachments did positive impact on my work flow and they were ahead of competition at the time of purchase they are still serving me well The kss 300 , ks 40 did same and yes they are a step above festool i try to by always the best for my purposes since going almost completely cordless keeping battery platform in mind ( still have 4 battery platforms )

I more or less made a profit on the Festool tools I sold on Ebay last week. Broke even on what I sold a couple of months ago. People bid outrageous amounts on unique Systainers I had. As usual, bidding on Lie Nielsen, Woodpeckers and Veritas was near retail (crazy). Craigslist, on the other hand, is where the cheapskates come to play. I had to turn to it for the stationary equipment last summer. They show up and start going through your things without permission (like they own the place) and start making completely out of line lowball offers on everything. All of them. All of them. 😂 brice - Do not sell Festool to buy Metabo. This held true in 2000. It holds true in 2020.

I followed a few items you had for sale and while I am very glad you recouped your investment I still can’t wrap my head around the near retail, and in some cases retail I think, prices achieved. Obviously the condition and quality of items justified/played a big role - but still, to get retail.
Craigslist though is like entering another universe where nothing makes sense. If I list an item for a quarter it’s value new in box I won’t hear a peep. If I list a piece of junk where I state it’s not working they come in droves. The people are characters too. I recently had to use my fist to correct aggressive behavior towards me after I wouldn’t bargain and started to leave. Which of course, as always, I explain there will be no bargaining before we even meet.

brice - Do not sell Festool to buy Metabo. This held true in 2000. It holds true in 2020. Depends what... the Metabo drills (same as Mafell) are excellent - I'd prefer them to a Festool. Impact driver?.. I think Festool don't do one anymore. Metabo grinders are excellent, not tried the new 18v Festool, but my 230v Festool 125mm grinder went up in smoke after a year of limited use.
Circular saws?.. OK so you have point - don't ever buy the KS57!

It depends what Metabo mitre saw, some of the cheaper ones are junk - maybe the more expensive ones are better, I won't risk the money to find out, even though the quiet induction motor model appeals, as does the Sym version. I have the KGS 18 LTX 216 - it is a basic 'made in China', lightweight, ideal for anything small that isn't finish work (i.e. not much). It's on the 'sell' shelf.

Over here in brexit land festool is holding value ok. It amazes me what people are willing to pay. All the stuff i have sold on has worked out well. Fwiw there are a few select festools i love and the rest are matched or bettered by other brands.
