Sorry if this is a redundant question. I know you can use the metabo 5.2 Ah on a kss 40 , but will the Metabo 8.0 Ah LiHD batteries also work? Thank you

Yep no problem. I've got a couple of 8,0Ah I use on the Kss40 and MT55 18bl, seem to go on forever!.. having said that, I tend to use the 4,0Ah's on the KSS40, as it is a small light saw and the 8,0Ah's make it heavy.

Thank you. And thank you for the advice. I was looking to get the most bang for my buck.

Just wanted to share that I was able to score the 4.0/8.0 starter kit with charger on zoro for 25% off came out to under $200, which I thought was a pretty decent deal.
I recently got a kss40 (my first mafell purchase from yetihunter) and was planning to use the 4.0 on it.
I am now debating getting the mt55 cordless (since it’s on sale) or the kss60 so would use the 8.0 on those.
My kss40 has been stalling out kind of often with the 5.2 so hoping maybe the 4.0 LIHD will give it a little boost.

I would not expect going to a 4,0ah will help. If I understand correctly, the battery that can deliver the most power under high drain circumstances is the 5,5Ah Li-HD - not sure if that is still the case.

The 1st gen of Li-HD 5.5AH batts were once the most 'powerful', but also not sure if that's still the case. The 8.0ah batt is a REAL powerhouse. As it has 10 3.6v cells in 2 sets of 5 cells in series, with the 2 sets of 5 wired in parallel, it's capable of delivering a pretty awesome 1600w peak load! Each 'set' of 5 cells buffers the other, allowing lower overall power consumption (& heat generation) from the collective pairs of 5 cell arrays.
I really notice the diff. between the 4.0AH & 8.0AH batteries in a heavily loaded grinder or in my little Metabo SCMS. The bigger batt's just seem to do it easier. In fact, I wouldnt even try to use a pair of smaller batteries in my 9" grinder for instance. It would be just too hard on the single cells in heavy steel or stone cutting, whereas sharing the load across 20 cells (2x 6.2, 7.0 or 8.0 AH batts) halves the load on each cell.
Where the littlest batteries really shine is in smaller hand-held tools: drills, rattler, tapper etc. These don't really have the same peak power demand as the saws, grinder, SDS etc. They also remarkably enhance the ergonomic handling & balance of the drills etc too. Try it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. A big 7.0 or 8.0AH battery hanging off a drill is a bit too much of a handful for me these days.
Excellent score on the starter kit, by the way!

Yeti hunter looks to have used the saw maybe one time so it was more or less brand new when I got it. After the first cut or two in 5/8” cxs ply it would cut out and beep. Removing and reinserting battery or waiting ~5s will let it cut again but it has been happening quite a lot in different materials. Ply, mdf,2x, and 2x timberstrand (not so surprised about stalling in the LSL as it’s super dense chip) I talked to Tyler and he said that it happened on his for a while in the beginning and went away so I’m hoping it’s just that. Replaced the blade with a key and it’s still doing it occasionally. Zoro always has sales, currently it’s 20% off but if you are patient they do 25% too pretty often. Here’s the link to the item: www.zoro.com/metabo-battery-and-charger-kit-180v-li-ion-starter-18v-4080ah-lihd/i/G6315333/

The 8.0ah batt is a REAL powerhouse. The 8,0Ah's are awesome - can do so much work with them.

The key blades are super impressive... for a few cuts and quickly I find myself putting an old worn out Mafell blade on the saw, and it cuts better than the also new Key blade - I won't get anymore.
Try getting a battery bigger than what you actually have - a 5,5 ; 6,0 ' 7,0 or 8,0 Ah. The 4,0's are OK on the KSS, but are blown away by the 5,5's.

So you are saying it will not go away? I sent yetihunter a message on here and eBay but haven’t heard back, he doesn’t seem to go on here at all anymore, not that he could really do much for me anyways.
It does the beeping quite often so I’m guessing by your statement it will not go away. I will also see if Timberwolf will do anything for me.
At this point I’m kicking myself because even though I got it for it for $900 shipped, now it’s on sale for $999 brand new. Guess you can’t win them all.
That’s not great to hear about the key blade! I will definitely report back but they have great cust service so might be worth contacting them if you are having issues
I bought the 4.0 and 8.0 and just got a notification it shipped so will try with the massive 8.0 and see. Like I said I currently am using some 5.2s

Igdesign, Thanks for the the link, unfortunately it doesn’t show the sale price.
My kss40 with 5.2 batteries seldom beeps. When it does it’s operator error. Hope you get yours sorted out.

John You might have to sign up for their 'Zmail' at zoro, then they tailor promotions towards your trade, previous purchases and even extra deals depending on how much you buy... I entered their promo code BESTSAVINGS for the Metabo starter pack but it doesn't apply at this time. Maybe igdesign has the answer. fwiw - OhioPowerTools has two 8ah starter kit for $269

The deal with zoro is they have sales almost constantly. The price will show as the regular price until you checkout and enter the code. Sometimes these sales are advertised directly on the website. But since I have ordered from them previously I get constant emails about their sales. I believe their 20% is still going, and I got a unique code I can share now but I personally would wait for a 25% off.
WNB948HPPF is good for 20% off $150 and was sent via email yesterday.
I was going to get the dual 8.0 kit as zoro has it for basically the same price but I thought I’d want a slim 4.0 for the kss40. I guess I’ll see if I made a poor choice.
I spoke with Timberwolf about my kss40 and they do say it’s outside the 1 year warranty but suggested I try the new batteries and a new blade to see if the beeping goes away.

The 4/8 is a great choice for flexibility of power vs weight, they know it and it's why they offer it. Just mentioned the 8/8 cause it came up in my search. Thanks for posting the code.
