It's my understanding that when the saw is set to a 45* bevel and run on the track, that the splinter strip is the the cut line same as when cutting a 90*
With my particular saw, at any degree past 15, it will not cut next to the splinter strip. Instead it's roughly 1/8" proud of the splinter strip. Has anyone had this issue, or even heard of it? If so, is there a way to correct it?
Thanks in advance, Will

Start here: LINK
( there's a bit of unnecessary rambling in my posts in that thread as I was geeking out on trying to understand the saw for myself but if you skim everyones posts I think you'll get the gist ).

I just read the whole thing, didn't see an actual agreed upon fix. I'm guess that I'm just sol since I bought a saw from the U.K. And I live in the states.

Iirc, a member did send in their saw, I believe is was really off, and it came back better but still cutting a bit off the guard (if I have that right).
I don't think you are s.o.l. I think you are in the same boat as 99% of every other MT55cc/bl owner.
The work arounds are: >Shimming base of saw with a few fast cap stickers (the higher up the saw rides the closer to the guard at 45º it comes when you want to cut 45º's. >Shimming internally - not recommended unless you like that sort of thing (I do). >Using a blade that trims splinter guard because of it's kerf overhang but only for when you cut a 45º which means constantly removing regular blades and then mounting the off sized blade which you will forget to take off for a straight cuts and end up trimming the splinter guard. >Not worrying about it and just denote how far to back away rail from desired cut mark/line and then always score first (maybe backwards) and enjoy the fact that even though this is a minor annoyance you were smart enough to buy a kick ass saw.
The last option is what most owners have opted for.

The very first cut I made with a 45 wa perfect. All others have been an 1/8" off. It gripes me, but life will go on. And the mafell is an awesome saw, I'll deal with it, and grip when it doesn't work in the 45

wait, ... what? The first cut you made with saw set at 45º was right on the splinter guard line and now it cuts ⅛" off?
Do you mean by that - the splinter guard was not yet trimmed and the first cut it received was with the saw set at 45º? Then later you did cut with it at 0º, and after that it then cut away from the guard at 45º(?)

Well as Rod Stewart says... "the first cut is the deepest."

I cut the splinter strip at 90* when I first got the saw. After a few months I went to cut on a 45* and all was great. Made the next cut as it wasn't on the line. Everything works fine up to about 30*. Beyond that, its 1/8" proud of the line.
Talked to tco on eBay where I bought it. They messages mafell and mafell said to send it back. I'm presently verifying whether that counts since I'm in the states.

Ask TCO if you can ship to them and they send to mafell.
