Any North American sources on 16 x 75 dowels? I can get the Mafell cartons from Germany, but there's a hefty convenience tax on the pricing. I've found US sources, but only at 100mm lengths and above. Obviously, I can obtain 5/8" x 3" dowels, but I'm not sure if that .125 of a millimeter will matter.
I know about Just Joinery in Canada, but their website keeps redirecting to North Computer Services.

For reference, I can obtain 5/8" x 3" 1000 qty for under $45 from a multitude of vendors.
Mafell cartons for 6 x 75 are €33 (pre vat) for 180 pieces.

There are a handful of other sources for metric dowels in North America. I've been using California Dowel. When I buy dowels I've learned to buy large quantities to justify the shipping, I think the last time I bought 8mm x 30mm dowels I bought something like 10,000 dowels, should last me a LONG time! Unfortunately they only carry 16mm dowels in a 127mm lengths, but at $0.10 you can always make a jig and cut them down. woodproducts.caldowel.com/16mm-x-127mm-Multi-Groove-Dowel-Pins.aspx

True true, I don't remember if it was caldowel; but I remember paying more for shipping than the actual dowels on a 1,000 piece order. www.exceldowel.com/index.html Has the widest range of 6, 8, 10 and 12, but no 16. I'm only feeling out to see if I should bother ordering the 16mm bits. Obviously, 8mm is perfect for a wide range of material thickness (1/2"-1.25"), and the 12mm dowels are pretty substantial, as is. If only I could find 12mm dowels out here over 2" (50mm). :0 Man do I not miss the DF500 I had. :0 To be fair, I did spend some one on one time with the DF700 at the store today. It fixes what I disliked about the 500, but I'm kind of totally satisfied with the dd40 right now.
