This week I had the unfortunate experience of the dust extractor going on fire. When routing out a slot to take a slip bolt with a blunt cutter it sent a hot cinder into the dust bag, which then caused a dust explosion and to go on fire quickly. Needless to say it's done so im going to have to replace it. This time I'm going to get an m class as it keeps me on the right side with any site rules and also there is a deal going on the 110v s25 in the UK

I've heard of this happening, but never seen it occur. Sometimes, when I'm cleaning out the flueways of my stove & heaters with the vac I imagine the possible consequences of a stray spark or glowing ember. Apparently dust explosions are rare, but can be quite serious. Something about just getting the right concentrations of particulate in the air parcel. There was an episode of Mythbusters where they reproduced a fairly large scale milk powder?? explosion.
I have a friend who had a rather unfortunate incident with a motorcycle petrol tank and a domestic vac. That was terminal too: for the vac, that is, not Marty. I thought it might have qualified him for an honourable mention in the Darwin awards...

I think it's like a lot of explosions needs the right mix of ingredients, also with the vac sucking in more air it accelerated the speed. Within less than a minute the house was full of smoke

That's awful! I hope there wasn't any other damage other than the vac.. Were you hurt?

No just the vac died so need to replace the only other thing was a malted cable outside that I never noticed and the fire alarms going off like crazy but no real damage that won't fix. The only issue might be the person I work with now will think all dust extractors are going to go on fire
