What's your experience with this stuff? Any? I'm looking at the UVA 115 sander. Do you guys know if there is a (relatively) cheap source for this somewhere? I see they have rolls on Amazon that I assume can be cut to size.

Personally haven't used but have being told by painters it works out cheaper as when it gets clogged up you can give it a shake or wash under the tap they recon it lasts 4 times longer

I've used Abranet quite a lot with my Mirka CEROS. I does last well and the dust collection is excellent. The only problems I found with Abranet is they have a tendency to tear if for example you're sanding over a Dado, Mortice or something like that. The edges of the disc get caught and tear. I haven't used the "HD" version, but I hear it hold up better. Another consideration with Abranet is that it can wear the Velcro (hook and loop) prematurely if not used with their backing pads. I used a lot of Abranet on my CEROS, and never used a backing pad. After 3.5years of use, I recently changed the sanders pad, as the Velcro has worn away.
if I'm not using Abranet, I use Klingspor and Sia abrasives. Klingspor may even make abrasives for other companies as they look similar. They have a huge range of sizes, you may find the size and type you want at their online shop. Klingspor shop.

Hi Okami, thanks! May I assume that you are the same Okami that posted the Northfield saw restoration on another blog (talkfestool)? If so, good work! I really enjoyed following the progress.

Hi, Kalas! Yes, Your assumption is correct, I am that same Okami. I'm still not totally finished on the Northfield restoration, there'll be more to come in that thread..it's just finding the time, but it's almost done. It's a fantastic saw!

Not found a "cheap(er)" source for Abranet, but the way I look at it, the cost is worth it for the quality of finish, dust extraction rate and speed of work. As Okami says, caution with the velcro pads and backing. Use on both the EVA150 & UVA115E. They both have there uses.
Worth keeping an eye out for DeWalt 1/2 sheet and 150mm RO mesh sheets when on offer from retailers

I started out with the union and as my skills progressed I began looking for small gigs. So, one lunch break, I was talking to an old timer and I told about the brand new Milwaukee gear I bought and how I was going to toss out the skil/craftsman tools since they were essentially crap. Older and wiser, he told those tools were extremely valuable...so now, whenever a neighbor or buddy needs to borrow a tool, I have the perfect one for the job.
I realize its tougher on-site, I cannot stand when my own guys go into my bags for a tool.

So what about SandNet by Diablo(w) ? Some videos saying they like it better than Abranet. What was the dust collection like switching to Abranet? Do you have to stop as often to slap out clogs as to just change regular pads ?
