Not trying to insult, did you purchase 220v German tool and plug into 110v UK power? I have had no issue with my 220v German tools with USA 220v power with plug adaptor. No converter used. We use the same voltage as Germany, we only use 110V if commercial, so I don't think that was the problem.

Hi there, I recently purchased a KSS 300 from Germany (I'm in the UK) and was very impressed with it in use. Sadly, during the 2nd day of use the machine stopped powering on. I haven't been using it inappropriately and it hasn't had any knocks. Because it's from Germany I've been using a UK plug adaptor, but that isn't faulty. If anyone has any idea's as to why this has happened I'd appreciate hearing them - perhaps I'm missing something obvious. If not it's bitterly disappointing as I'll have to go back to the table saw to finish the project that I'm in the middle of whilst the saw is sent to Mafell. Incidentally, does anyone know the returns process for the UK? I'm in Inverness. Many thanks, Seb Hello Seb,
I just saw this thread for the first time, so I'm sorry for the [unavoidable] delay. Would you mind elaborating on your issue for me?
Did the motor begin slowing down on you (before ceasing to run)? Did you smell a phenolic odor at any point during operation? Any evidence of overheating during operation? Any unusual vibrations or sounds?
If none of this was experienced, I hope you still have the tool because perhaps I can assist you with a thorough diagnosis.
Let me know what your current status is and we'll go from there...
Have a good one, RedP.S. I've certainly seen more than one electrical adapter that appeared normal when it was actually intermittent.

Hi Red,
Thanks so much for the reply - I do still have the machine thankfully. In answer to your questions:
It appeared to be working fine with no excessive sound or vibration (I only had the tool for a few day's however, so it may not have been 'normal').
I noticed no odours from the tool at any point and the motor didn't slow down prior to the failure. It was literally a case of cut a board - go away for 5 minutes to fit the board - come back and the machine doesn't power on - completely dead.
I'll run through a brief list of what check I did when I couldn't turn the machine on:
Check mains power - no fault with mains power or mains plug Check mains UK plug adaptor with another device (shaver) Checked for continuity via the mains plug - with the trigger switch depressed 2.7M ohms (both with and without the UK plug adaptor); no continuity without the trigger switch depressed.
If you can advise me on further diagnosis I would be hugely grateful as I will have to send it back to the dealer in Germany if I can't get it going, so it'd be great to rule out any easy fixes.
Many thanks,
Seb.
P.S. I will get hold of another UK plug adaptor to rule it out as faulty.

I got an Eu extension cord and put the male end off an put an Aussie end on it. You would obviously have a sparkie put a UK one on if you went that route.
It probably makes sense to try that, and the German extension cords are on ebay.

hello Seb,I know nothing with regard to electrics but my best guess is that the power adapter you have on the saw is not of a high enough rating for the job,i imported my kss300 to the UK from Germany as well,on it(as well as my imported Erika 85) I have a chunky power adapter that I got from amazon uk,it has a high enough rating to handle the current/amps(not sure what the correct terminology is),in contrast a much smaller power adaptor is fitted to my imported battery charger for the drill driver(A18 M Bl),this obviously draws much less current so the smaller/lower rated one suffices, when the warranty periods are up I intend to simply remove the adapters and attach a ordinary UK plug, here are some photos, the chunky adapter pictured is attached to the Erika 85 but it is identical to the one I have fitted to my kss300,hope this helps, adrian

I've received the machine back from Germany and it's working fine.
There was no explanation as to what broke so I'm still not sure what happened. I don't think there's any electronics in it, so it must have been a failed electrical component.
Either way, the new flooring hasn't arrived yet so thankfully it didn't delay that project - I'm delighted to have it back!

It is either a 110v or a 220v tool... Does it say which one?
