Tobias shipped me a cordless kss400 last week. I received it yesterday from ups to my door step in the states. It took about a week after he shipped it.

He's great to deal with and worth paying a little more for in my opinion. Although he has worked out much cheeper in my experience

you should definitely get it from Tobias,he is totally reliable and efficient,we are fortunate to have him in my opinion, another great advantage is his ability to supply spares and uncommon items and he will phone mafell for clarifications/advice regarding such items, something most people here can not do due to the language barrier,i view getting from Tobias like an extension/accentuation of the guarantee,he gives me peace of mind.

loome, The transactions with Tobias have all been great ,have had a Mafell warranty issue that Tobias took care of with no cost to my checkbook .If you purchase a tool through him ,go on the Mafell site and register the tool for warranty .

Sounds great will do, I really appreciate all the information I can't wait to get this beauty! I was contemplating getting the KSS 300 but after reading threw the form I decided on the KSS 40, I hope Mafell has plans to expand the use of Metabo batteries across their lineup it would be great to see the KSS 60 or KSS 400 adapted into the Metabo platform as I feel they have superior batteries, Im also interest to see if any other saws will incorporate their new Brushless Motor's only time will tell!

Dictum is also good in many ways. 1) Their website is great 2) English is selectable 3) Currency is selectable 4) The cart retains your items for a long time
Once need to actually get onto the phone, then Tobias makes it easier as you do not get a random person at Dictum.
So it is easy to use both Dictum as well as Tobias, and there are times when one may be preferred over the other.

No vat in the USA. Can't hurt to give ole Toby a ding if you've got specific questions.

Thinking of getting this saw , or the Festool HKC55 , but the one thing that might put me off is the cutting depth of 40mm. I mainly do kitchen fitting and use my Festool TS 75 for worktop cutting , so if I'm cutting a worktop upside down to prevent spelching to the front edge will the KSS 40 cut the laminate face without chipping it as the blade is only just breaking through the surface of a 40mm worktop ?

Thanks Holmz iv hear about them from another one of your posts I appreciate the help, anyone know if I'm required to pay VAT seeing as I'm importing to the US? The Dictum website has a "No Vat" switch., but 20% should be easy to do one hand (or 4 fingers of it). In some countries they keep track of what you get and from where and charge on the whole history. (Not the US) So spreading it around keeps one under the limits.

Hey Transporter,
I always use the offset scoring function on the 55, with a high tooth blade, to cut formica projects since lateral pressure can be introduced on the 40 when cutting. I still use the 40 to cut up veneer plywood but most of the time those end cuts are nested in a dado or rabbet. If I cut slow and deliberately, I can certainly avoid splintering the veneer and if I was concerned about the bottom side, I would use tape and place a sacrificial sheet below to avoid blowout.

Transporter, I've installed a few kitchens with the kss40. I understand the worktop is a bit on the tight side. But I use the 40 for everything else. It's so much easier to cut the carcase, decor panels and cutouts, in w/t for hob and sink. It's so much lighter and with the dust bag more convenient. You can use a 40 tooth blade but even with the 24T blade it's quite a clean cut. You wont regret the investment, Plus if, like me, you do flooring, Its invaluable.

I was wondering about its dust performance. My Metabo SCMS's dust collection is pretty woeful, and of course conventional autoswitching dust extractors are likewise essentially useless with cordless tools.
It drives me mad having to switch the dustie on & off manually for each & every cut. So I put up with the mess.
