Hi, From all the information on this great site I've come to the conclusion that the KSS300 with flexi rail is the one for me. I mostly do flooring and kitchens and cut 22-28mm Ply . But in the back of my mind i'm thinking sometimes I do cut doors & wood greater than 40mm. I have an old heavy Ryobi which I use & hate but stick with it, cause it's not often used. So to cut it out altogether I was looking at the KSS400 or the KSP55. not really intesested in the MT55 OR TS55. Something more portable and easy to use.
Now I would, if you could, like information on the difference between the KSS400 and the KSP55, apart from the lack of the cross cutting rail system on the 55. I find information about the difference of theses two saw hard to find. Can they both use the flexi rail? how good are they both on the Mafell track (0-45 angels)?
Also, before I buy, Do you guys know if any of these saw are going to be updated any time soon. As I don't want to folk out a big wad of cash only to find out in a few months there's a new model! Info would be much appreciated Thanks

Mafell are just showcasing some updated saws but we don't have a lot of concrete documentation on the specifics just yet. All mafell saws work on the standard rails, the exception would be with bevel cuts with the 300 on the standard rail, as it's optimized for the flex rail which is thinner than the standard f tracks. This difference in thickness means that the 300 would cut deeper into the splinter strip when doing bevel cuts. Similarly, any larger saws would cut away from the splinter strip when beveling, meaning your cuts would be off the mark.
I own the mt55 and the kss 300 but if I had to chose between a kss 400 and the standard ksp55 I'd go the kss route. the track is so handy and it's well worth it to have that option.

Info would be much appreciated Thanks Read more: mafell-users-forum.freeforums.net/thread/568/kss400-ksp55#ixzz3o0l3OnJ2The ksp55 and kss400 in some ways are the same and other ways different. Obviously thier is the cross cut track on the kss version. If you have ksp version it will not work with kss track as the base is different. Both will work on the F rails but thier is a difference in how they work on the tracks. The kss version will work at any angle in relation to splinter guard is always on the line no matter the angle. The ksp version only works right on splinter line at 90 then if you want to cut at a beval the base needs to moved on to the groove marked 45. Meaning the splinter line is not always the cut line. If you intend to use with the tracks the kss version is properly a better choice as the cut line is always 0 with the splinter line. Can't really make comment in relation to the flexi guide I don't have info any updated version my guess is around a couple years. My reason for thinking this is a couple of years ago the kss80 and k85 was introduced which has more or less superceded the ksp85. Their have only just now and I'm not sure if fully out yet have the kss 60 and k65 coming out as we speak. Which really is the ksp 65 replacement. So going on that timetable I'd guess at another couple of years.

Thanks Guys. I've just been told that there is a big Tool exhibition not too far from me this weekend, in Kempton Park. I might take a half day tomorrow and have a look. Apparently Mafell, festool, trend, matabo and co will be there. Will repost anthing interesting.

Right I've Popped my Mafell cherry today at the DM tool show. Bought the KSS300 kit with another blade thrown in for £539. Thanks to GhostFist and writewoodwork for your advice. On see it in action and holding it i was super impressed. Went for the 300 over the 400 just for weight and feel for what I need for my job. If I have the money I'd buy both. Can't wait to use it! By the way they did have the KSS66 and the 18V KS40 which looked very impressive. Looked as powerful as the corded version but £699 with a 3 week wait. and they had the new 10.8v + 18v drills. have some pics but will put them up later.

Nice one. I don't think you'll regret the 300
