Hi, I recently purchased a KSS 300, which is totally awesome. Anyways I took a nick out of the splinter guard when doing a 45° cut.
It happened when I was retracting it back, can you get a replacement splinter guard?
Cheers Dunk.

Yes I've gone through a few of them. not as resilient as the standard splinter guards but they do the trick. I find the red marking on the saws base plate to be pretty accurate if you're waiting for your new strip to arrive.

Hi there , I hav been wanting the Mafell kss 300 for years , I finally got one a couple of days ago , it's a great wee machine . But after using it at a 45 for cutting skirting it chipped the splinter , guard .... Then on the next cut ... It really chipped it badly... Is this a common problem ? Is there a part number for the slinger guard ? Is it easy to fit ? Thanks any help would be grateful

Totally easy to replace, it's considered a disposable as it will naturally wear over time. Don't know why you were getting Knicks while bevel cutting the though. Was the strip already pre cut by you?

Hi , no I did not pre cut the splinter gaurd, it was an ex display model. I was cutting about 25mm of a 400mm bit of 15mm mdf skirting at a 45 degree tilt for a mitre joint. On the bench. Then I heard a noise as I let the saw come back on the cross cut rail . I looked down and saw a chip about 25mm at the start of the rail... I have still been using it it a great wee machine ... but I can't be spending £10-£15 on a new splinter gaurd even couple of days . It real needs a break to ... would be tempted to buy the 18v saw but at around £800 it's a bit pricey .thanks for the reply

I had my 300 for years and replaced the splinter guard maybe once a year. The 18v version is what I use now and have yet to replace the guard. It is worth the money IMO. If you already have any metabo gear, the batteries are the same so you could by a bare version.
On the other hand, you just got the 300, but it sounds like something gone weird on it. I bevel with mine all the time and haven't experienced the same problem.
Check to see that it's tracking on the rail properly or if the saw is slipping creating during the cut binding the blade somehow
