Just curious how this mechanism works with these saws - is it spring loaded or offer resistance to pull the saw back after a cut? Trying to visualize how it works with the cross-cut track.
Thanks

I'll post a close up picture tomorrow. It has an elastic/nylon band thingy. It seems like the same thing chicks put in their hair if that doesn't make it sound too cheesy. It would seem like it would mess with the cut, like always working against you trying to push the saw forward, but it doesn't feel that way. When I first saw it I thought it was sort of funny that there was an elastic band to pull it back. Didn't seem breakthrough enough for such a nice tool but it works great. Simple usually ends up being the best.

It's a bungee cord it basically has only enough resistance too pull the track forward not the saw. Also when cutting lots of resiny wood the track sometimes gets a little sticky, so I give it a little spray with some lubricant

Ya every now and then I have to do the one hand shotgun pump to reset the track if it's getting a little sticky. I don't mind though because I look pretty bad ass doing it.

OK...got it - the resistance to keep the track up against the edge of the stock while cutting...that seems very ingenious. Thanks for the explanation, everyone.
