Finally got going again on my Roubo workbench. I'm curious, has anyone else fabricated one? straightened the leg stock with the ksp85. 8/4 rock maple. Used the dd40 and 10mm dowels to align the glue up and it will help somewhat with strength, albeit minimal with this much glue surface.

Just a few clamps. Amazing how helpful the dowels are at keeping the layers from sliding around. Made the glue ups a piece of cake.

Haven't built one. I have watched the wood whisperer video on his Roubo bench build. In fact I have watched all sorts of random classic workbench videos and looked at a couple books on amazon etc etc. I am very fascinated by them and would love to have one but I don't really do enough shop work...especially hand tool work... to justify the time, effort and money to make one. Probably some day as a hobby item.
I would love to see any progress pictures. I am guessing that is the purpose of starting a new thread with this title so I am excited to follow along.

Almost everyone likes the bench & hardware. Almost no one likes the music. What other wood species do you plan on using in the bench?

I have to say, that chainsaw leaves a pretty clean cut surface to my eye

Almost everyone likes the bench & hardware. Almost no one likes the music. What other wood species do you plan on using in the bench? Undecided on if and where to use accents. I have nearly 1,000 bf of 8/4 Sapele which I initially thought of using some for the leg vise chop, sliding deadman and dog hole strip, but I have seen similar designs and I don't want to be like the Joneses. I like being a little different, so I also have thick wide stock in various species like Wenge, zebrawood, bloodwood, etc, etc. Right now I'm leaning towards doing something with those species of wood; however, my thoughts aren't yet final. I've also considered using only the rock maple for the whole thing. We'll see.

I have to say, that chainsaw leaves a pretty clean cut surface to my eye You would be even more amazed to see the cut quality in person. The splinter guard prevents tear out and chipping on the surface. Similar to the cut quality with the circular saws on the f tracks. I'll have to post some close ups when time allows.

Very cool. I made a Holtzapffel bench for mine, which I really like. It was on of the best projects I have ever done.
