I wish the Walko was still sold in North America. It looks pretty darn cool.

I’d like to bump this topic back to the top. I’m in the process of redesigning the shelves on the drivers-side of my Sprinter, which of course has me rethinking my whole mobile work setup. Currently, I’m using three MFT/Kapex tables (smaller than a standard MFT/3). I like these tables for their portability, but I wish they were tall enough to serve as out feed support for my ERIKA 70.
In the process of looking for inspiration for some custom-built 80/20 tables, I revisited the Walko tables. Now that I’ve made the transition to the Mafell ecosystem, these tables look MUCH more appealing. Here is what I like about them: — table surfaces can be repositioned to match the work at hand — Walko can be folded flat for processing sheet goods, otherwise I really like the work bench configuration — the frame can be used on its own (no tables), this would be handy for mortising and boring doors — the Walko 3 seems to match the table height of the ERIKA 70 — modular nature would allow me to reduce weight when carrying around (I’d rather make more, lighter trips than wreck my back)
Unfortunately, it appears that the Walko tables are not currently being sold, and the owner is trying to find a buyer for the Walko company. There is an extensive parts list on the website, and I inquired if it were possible for me to order enough parts to build some tables, but was informed by the owner that was not possible at the moment. He has been very polite and helpful, but said all sales are on hold until someone buys the company.
So, now I’m contemplating building a couple work tables out of 80/20 that would simulate the Walko benches. It looks like nearly all of the functionality can be reproduced using stock 80/20 components.
For those of you who have used the Walko benches, do you like them? Any dislikes? If you could build a Walko of your own, what would you change?

The design and functionality of that bench is great, it is a shame it never penetrated the market. I also wanted to fabricate a bench like that out of birch but the only way to potentially justify the time is to sell the plans after working out the details. And or, have all the pieces nested on one sheet of ply and CNc it.
Oh the helpful bit, I did see a walko pop up on Fog classified a year ago, maybe more...I believe the location was in Connecticut and the price was 400+ .

Not only do you need a workbench on site, you often need a work table just for parts, tools, etc. instead of the floor. Depending on space or need for proximity I’m often pondering the perfect ultralight portable work table. The Walko’s ability to lean against a wall and support shelves seems great for limited space. I wondered recently if a short but wide modified aluminum ladder with attached fold up shelves, pouches, trays etc. isn’t a simple solution for waist level easy access storage.

I wondered recently if a short but wide modified aluminum ladder with attached fold up shelves, pouches, trays etc. isn’t a simple solution for waist level easy access storage. Exactly!! Part of the appeal of the Walko tables to me is that you can have bi-level support, ie: you can have the waist-high table working surface, then set up a lower shelf to set tools on in between uses. My intention would be to carry two tables in the van at all times with extra work tops, and have an extra table or two in the shop that I could deploy for on-site projects that require greater support. In the mean time, I've been using three (3x) MFT/Mini(Kapex) tables that perform this task "OK", but I REALLY wish they matched the ERIKA 70 table height, both for out feed support, and because I'm relatively tall (6'2"). I suppose I could fabricate some Baltic Birch cleats that I could set across the cross-members of the MFT tables, but they're so low to the ground it's not a big improvement..... The Walko isn't "perfect", but it really does seem to be a very good match for the majority of my needs....

After an extensive search, I was able to find a handful of complete Walko tables, but they were all scattered, generally over seas. The Woodcraft in Hawaii has several in stock, but the cost to ship them to North America exceeded the cost of the tables themselves.
Alas, I've elected to stick with the MFT/3 table format. I'll start a new thread soon, but I've started using the RUWI products, they're a great complement to the MFT.
