Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a kss 80ec which has seen little use to be honest, but when it's needed it's absolutely essential for my line of work. I went to pull it of its box and discovered that the blade guard was stiff and would not retract back on its own accord which is clearly a major safety issue. I can manually move it back easily though. I removed the blade to take a look checking the springs etc but couldn't see anything obvious. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone have any recommendations? Many thanks 👍

I've had this on both my 400s first thing to try is just a simple spray of some sort lubricant. To see if it helps. I presume the return spring is attached. If all is attached and not working correctly after a spray of lubricant. The next step is to take the guard off by removing the return spring and any other springs possibly attached to the guard. Then at the arbor there is also a circlip below the blade housing. Once the circlip is removed you should then be able to remove the guard and give it a good clean of any sticky residue. There is also a black plastic sleeve with a lip on it. On my saw the lip had become damaged and I removed the lip then put the guard back on following the steps in reverse. Hopefully that should get the guard working safely
