Wonder how an MT55 would do without a riving knife (after you clamp the plunge)?
I'm assuming he's also clamping the switch on, unless the 300 has a lock?

Table saw without riving knife = not a good idea !

That's actually a pretty clever idea with the mounting method. Usually mounting an inverted circular saw to a table has them clamped from below rather than having cutouts on the table that are leveled against the other side of the base plate... It has me looking at the Kreg router plate leveler pads that I haven't used yet... Table saw without riving knife = not a good idea ! It wouldn't be too bad with thin, lightweight stock like that. When you're looking at MDF/plywood there shouldn't be an insane amount of internal stress. On an aside: I've mounted a Metabo HPT/Hikoki 36V circular saw onto a sheet of plywood. The 1x material I ripped started to pinch but as the blade wasn't clamped down super hard it just spun out instead. I ended up tightening it a little and it never became much of a hazard. As an aside the MT55 has some form of anti kickback mechanism where if it thinks the blade pinches it cuts power which makes me wonder if it would be able to cut power on a hard pinch. I wouldn't use an inverted circular saws over my portable table saws for ripping any heavy stock. One day I'll be able to make something like an Erika that runs off 120V and batteries by using an angle grinder...

There was a Metabo 36v table saw in the sales recently, I was half tempted to buy it to make a cordless Erika 55...
