What do you guys think about the new mafell ddf40 being 230 volt only? I have been tinkering with the idea of selling the Domino and buying the DD40 to replace it. I was initially put off by the original dd40 not being able to reference off the bottom (like lamello and domino) but the new version takes care of that issue. But. . . But. . . its only available in 230 volt which doesn't work well for me in the US. I could buy a transformer but what a PITA. What do you think? Cheers, Abe

Or get a male US-220v plug and put an EU-shumko female plug on the end as a "cheater". That works if it is used around a US-220v outlet, otherwise for hoofing around the countryside then "yes", you would need a transformer,

There should be a 110v version out at some point, apparently a model number has been reserved.

I am not sure what "a model number has been reserved" means. . . I spoke with timberwolf tools and they said there are not plans to make one for the next two years if at all.

That's rubbish I've spoken directly with one of the guys who was involved in the DDF40 and he said a 110v version is on its way , he even said possibly this year. This is a UK 110v but I'd imagine it's not too different to the US one

It means that in the numbering system that Mafell use for tools, packages and accessories, that a unique 6 digit reference has been reserved (i.e. put aside and will not be used for other purposes) for a 110v DDF40.
There are a lot of European tools that are not available the other side of the pond. It may be better to believe what is coming out of European dealers rather than the sole US dealer who would probably prefer you spend your coin now on a 220v model than waiting to see if Mafell decide to send them to the US.
As chippy1970 said, there are plans for a UK110v model (with a universal motor one would imagine)- not a special build with 60hz motor and US plug for the US market.

What! Where did you find that? Is that a mistake or is mafell already putting them into production?
