hi!
im still on the fence if i should get the erika 85. im hoping that they will release a brushless version of the erika . just like the metabo(less noise at idle)
im currently using the MT55 cc. cutting small pieces is painful with it (i blame it on my experience). should i wait or nmot? i am from singapore and the only woodworking im able to do is to rent space or do it at my apartment (im doing the latter) which is why i am using the mt5cc in ther first place. shipping the erika is painful. im quoted 500eur for it.
sorry for my point form english (im too used to writing this way nowadays).

I wouldn't wait. There is no evidence or hearsay that Mafell might release this in brushless. Mafell are well known for their powerful Cuprex motors, I don't see them changing that soon. They are also well known for a slow release cycle being a small business.
The Erika is great. Buy it, enjoy it, earn some money with it.

Welcome to the forum Andey. Your English is fine. Much better in fact than my own Mandarin/Cantonese/Bahasa Malay, which I'm ashamed to say is non-existent! I'm not sure why you think Metabo's table saw is brushless. It isn't. My own TS254 most def. has a 240V universal motor. With all the noise that implies. If you're after a quiet/er saw, then maybe something larger, heavier, not necessarily more expensive but fitted with a nice big induction motor might be more appropriate. Induction motors are almost invariably quieter, more reliable & longer lasting than other motor types. Nevertheless, the TS254 is a fine saw. The Erica is (probably) super. Most users love it. They're both far more portable than a big, heavy cast iron induction-motored table saw too.

My old Elu table saw had an induction motor, very smooth and quiet but not as torquey as I would have liked. Once it got past 25 years old, the blade needed a shove with a piece of wood to get started!
Not getting into the brushless/induction debate - but an induction motor doesn't have brushes - and Metabo do an induction powered sliding mitre saw - KGS254, which would be nice if it were put on the Sym Xact!

True about the lack of torque as an induction motor characteristic: you really need 3-phase windings to provide the low rev torque needed for deep ripping & the like. My Radial Arm Saw has similar power characteristics too, tending to bog down if it's not carefully "held back" during deep x-cuts. SCMS don't suffer from the same characteristics either by virtue of their usually universal motor installation, plus the "pull, plunge & push" action, which is the opposite of a Radial Arm Saw's.
The workshop manager at my local School of Architecture considered the KGS254 Inductions as replacements, but was a little unimpressed with their power characteristics. He went with Hitachis instead. All his workshop gear must safely withstand the depredations of mostly inexperienced & unskilled young users.
A quick, simple & inexpensive replacement of the big start capacitor (essentially a big storage device to provide instantaneous high current flow for motor starting) will solve 99.9% of all startup problems in induction motors. Otherwise it just sits there inert but humming away....
