That’s interesting. From the pre-release press images they look identical, except for ink. Just assumed size was the same. When you say similar do you mean only the size is different?

I didn't order a connector as I have so many Mafell connectors for my Mafell and Bosch rails... the main use of these is for the Metabo rail mounted grinder / diamond blade tile cutter, so I don't really need to join them for this use. I'll also use with the KS57 as a rough rip down set that stay in the van (for which a joiner would be handy!)
The plan is Metabo / Bosch in the van, Mafell / Festool / Virutex in the workshop.
I asked the question somewhere here and the consensus seemed to be that they were the same as the Bosch joiners - I tried putting one on the rail it must be about 10mm too narrow.
Asides from that, they seem like OK rails; they use the round Bosch style non-slip strips - I prefer the Festool / Virutex style for grip; the rails 'feel' cheaper than all the other rails I have - non scientific!.. but then again they are cheaper to buy, and they fit the purpose; the splinter guard fits into a machined groove, it doesn't seem as rigid as the Bosch / Mafell, but it will be easier to change. It also has 2x low friction strips, I'll have to see how these work with the KS57 (I couldn't test as it was in the other van), they seemed OK with the MT55. The Metabo grinder base has wheels so doesn't make use of these strips.

So I've used these Metabo rails a bit cutting some porcelain floor tiles. I tried the Metabo rail guided grinder - junk. So much play in the fitting between the grinder and the base. Real shame as the Metabo grinder is awesome as a concrete planer - I will keep it for that. So I switched to the Festool rail guided grinder on the Metabo rails - they are not smooth to run anything on, the raised rib is not a consistent width - I won't bother buying the connector for these. The splinter guard rattles if you shake the rail, they don't use the same connectors as Bosch, and the non slip strips do NOT work. The new plan is Metabo rails - BIN. Don't waste your money on them.

Hi, i use the metabo mks 58 metal cutting saw and i want to use it with bosch/mafell rails, are there any adapters to make the metabo rail compatible tools fit on bosch style rails? it fits the festool rails OK but theyre too expensive to acquire

Not that I'm aware of... the Metabo rails would probably be fine for cutting metal. How are you finding the MKS 58?

I use it to cut zincalume roof sheets, its alright i guess. There arent alot of cordless metal cutting circular saws on the market so there isnt much for me to compare it to to be honest. The pro of the metabo one is it is compatible with guide rails which sets it apart from the other ones, meaning i can get straight cuts on roof sheets. Something else interesting to note about it is that the guide rail mounter is actually a seperate adaptor that you can remove from the saw, so im going to see if i can get china to produce a custom adaptor to fit the bosch guide rails. I was silly and ordered a bunch of the bosch ones thinking that theyd fit the saw, hopefully i can still make it work out in the end. Honestly im contemplating trying a 36v circular saw not designed for cutting metal and seeing if it does a better job than it

produkte.mafell.de/en/cordless-portable-circular-saw-k-65-18m-blMaybe this would be perfect since it can use my metabo batteries and is compatible with bosch guide rails as well, but i have no clue as to how well it cuts steel roof sheets. Does anyone have experience using regular cordless circular saws to cut sheet metal? Is it just as good as using dedicated metal cutting circular saws?

No it's not for cutting metal - no protection from sparks, etc. It's a carpentry saw!
