Why not ask Metabo to send some dimensions or a cad drawing of the profile.

As with Bosch/Mafell, they're available in 80, 160, 250, 310cm lengths. On page 386-387 of Metabo's online catalogue. My only point, and this is solely a statement and opinion... if one travels with rails and needs portability, then 2 of the 1600 rails and a connector are the path that I choose as the best option.

Agreed. However, sometimes an extra little 800mm mini rail slipped into the bag (with joiner onboard) helps to rip those pesky CSR 3600mm (12') chipboard flooring panels to width.

True... I have a holely one for the router.

My on site setup is 2 x 1600 rails and one 800 rail attached to the FSN angle unit and two joining plates. Covers most needs for sure. At the shop I have a 4000 (!) Bosch rail which I have used a few times. Got it dirt cheap (!) and was thinking I would cut it down to size and make two out of it but I sobered up and I am glad I have it. It came in a square cardboard packaging which I hung up in the ceiling and I can just about pull it out of the box before running out of space at the shop!
Don't look forward to restripping it further down the road though...

There is a YouTube video of the 18 LTX 57. The metabo track does not look similar or compatible with Mafell.

These hybrid rails now give a lot of added consideration to the 36v Makita for new buyers if the rail & saw play well together (or at all). Especially if you can lower the blade return enough to accept a 7-¼" blade. That's almost 10mm of extra depth which shouldn't be a problem for 36v. It already looks like it will accept a 7" blade. Makita could also abandon its current rails in favor of this design without creating too much of a fuss as they transition. Bosch connector, Metabo rail, Makita saw.

From what I was told, as I have a bit of pull to get details, the Metabo specific slotted guide rail section in the new LTX 57 circular saw base is for an upcoming attached guide rail that will make it a carpentry style saw like the KSS 40 and KSS 50. any more news on this attached rail?

I just picked up an 800mm and 1600mm of these - they do NOT use the Bosch/Mafell connector, it may look similar, but it's too small for the Metabo rails.
