arvid: we have the digital Felder panel/format saw which is a superb machine. So is the shaper. The edge sander is so so but I use it a lot. It is not bad but I think there are cheaper ones out there that are at least as good. Dust collection is a bit iffy I think. We had the larger edgebander before but some guys changed careers and sold their edgebander off. Now I have the small Felder Forca edgebander in a table mount and it is actually quite good.
Unfortunately I will be leaving this shop at the end of February due to the cost vs use ratio which is a bit too much and I am looking at options, possibly opening up a shop of my own with a colleague.

Just been joining some mitres with the DDF40 this afternoon and lo and behold the switch no longer toggles the machine on..... It has to be held down. Pretty annoying.
Edit- Called up the shop I bought it from and the fix was described to me. One screw and a wiggle of a button later and all sorted, I barely did anything really but I can't get the switch to fail again as much as i've tried. Hopefully a one off fault and still in love with the machine.

Yeah, the switch mechanism itself I think is a pretty solid construction. It is the sum of the parts that have been a little so so I think. Maybe it is a bit "delicate" with all them plastic knobs, switches and stops though. Time will tell.
Apart from the glitch, how are you liking the machine so far?

I think the machine is a marvel really. A couple of oddities like why the height of the drills are 9.5mm from the base when surely 9mm would have made more sense seeing as 18mm sheet stock seems to be the norm. I've yet to use the accessories yet but i have a kitchen install coming up so I'm looking forward to using the DDF40 to do the shelf pins.
Last week i ordered some Hafele IxConnect fittings to try out which is quite exciting. In particular the SC 8/60 might be a game changer. I'll have to make a jig to drill the 6mm adjustment hole but that should be straightforward enough although I would love to see Mafell produce one themselves similar to the Domino knockdown connector Jig. When they arrive I might do a little youtube video on their use as knock down fixings in use with the DDF40 as there seems to be very little content covering them or the DDF40.

18mm is standard 'DIY' board, professional sheet in Europe is 19mm - hence the 9,5mm. (Egger, Kronospan, Polyrey etc.,)

Not in Britain however where the standard sizes across the board seem to be 18mm and as far as I've ever experienced even in high quality products they are sold as 18mm.

On the DD40P you can set at 9mm and 9,5mm to centre on both. Not sure why the UK is on 18mm... used to be imperial so 3/4" = 19mm; 5/8" = 16mm; which are the most common board sizes here in 'metric' Europe. Even ply is sold here at 1220mm wide - oh yes, 4 foot! 18mm is like 91/128" or something crazy like that... I'm sure there's a reason for it!.. not just ripping you all off by 1mm of finest chipboard!

I have bought the new DDF40 and sold my DD40G. I bought it from someone who had it for a month and did not use it so I grabbed a nice bargain.
The manual was not included in the systainer. Is the manual available online so I can download it, I have searched but could not find it?

Lol.😂 I need to identify what all the red indexing pins are for and believe they are listed in the manual. So if someone can post a link. Thanks.

Just place an order for the DDF40. Been looking at these for years - excited to give it a try and should make certain processes easier. Combined with both Dominos and I think I will have a good set of joinery options at my disposal.

I'm getting weird change-in-pitch noises from my DDF. Does anyone else notice this? It seems random, so I'm wondering if it's fluctuations from unclean power or if it's something to do with the machines electronics. Sometimes it happens at idle or sometimes mid plunge. It could correspond with other tools in the shop (or building) starting up, but so far I can't tell for sure. It doesn't create any problems with performance - I just don't want it to ruin the motor if something is wrong. I have it plugged in to the same feed as my table saw and shaper and never notice those motors fluctuating like this. It's an imported DDF running on 220v in the states if it makes a difference.

My DDF40 arrived yesterday and what a beautifully engineered tool it is. Sold my DD40P to a fellow Australian Mafell user, as I think the 'F' will be much more suited to cabinet work than the 'P'. Guy I sold it to is interested in the bigger dowels, so a win-win situation. At first look the accessories are fantastic - I got the MaxiMax version, so that includes everything, I think? I already had the dowel template rail. It's a 2021 build date, which was good to see. Also, the online warranty registration process was very easy, has that been streamlined recently?
